2025 RVDA’s Annual Dan Merkowsky Golf Classic Moments

It was another great day on the course at the iconic Alberta Springs Golf Course in Red Deer. The highlight of the day was a light-hearted competition, unforgettable moments, plenty of laughs and giving back. Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who showed up to make the 2025 RVDA’s Annual Dan Merkowsky Golf Classic one for the books.

Our Make-A-Wish Partnership: 2025 Impact

Every summer, the RVDA’s Annual Dan Merkowsky Golf Classic blends friendly competition with community impact. For 2025, our community showed incredible generosity, helping us to raise enough to fund one full wish for a child in Alberta through Make-A-Wish® Canada. This achievement reflects our incredible community spirit, with donations and support from all sponsors and participants.

Full Wish Granted

What made the 2025 tournament truly special were the stories of Isaac and Blake, two Make-A-Wish kids whose courage, resilience, and joy inspired us. Isaac, whose wish was granted, came back, not as a guest, but as a returning volunteer. Now 12, Isaac was first diagnosed with Wilms’ tumour, a type of kidney cancer, when he was just 8 years old. Following surgery and 27 weeks of chemotherapy, his wish to visit his favourite theme park gave him and his family a much-needed break from hospitals and heartache. Today, he’s thriving and giving back.

Joining him was Blake, a 10-year-old who has undergone multiple open-heart surgeries due to congenital heart disease. His wish, also to visit a magical theme park, brought his family together in a way they’ll never forget, a moment of pure joy after years of medical procedures and uncertainty.

Stories like Isaac and Blake remind us why this matters: wishes create joy, hope, and unforgettable memories for families facing critical illness.
