At this year’s Dan Merkowsky Golf Classic, the RVDA of Alberta made an announcement that exemplifies the power of community and generosity. Thanks to the incredible support of our members and the RV community, the RVDA of Alberta was able to grant the wish of not just one, but two children in Alberta, through its sponsorship of Make-A-Wish Canada.
Our community came together in an extraordinary way to raise $10,000, which was enough to grant a full wish to a child in need. But the giving didn’t stop there, Darren and Tania Paylor from Woody’s RV World, moved by the dedication of the RVDA community, generously matched our fundraising efforts with an additional $10,000 donation. This heartwarming gesture means that we are able to grant life-changing wishes to two children facing critical illnesses.
“The RVDA community’s generosity never ceases to amaze me. Together, we’ve not only achieved our goal—we’ve surpassed it!”, Gerry Haracsi, Executive Vice President of RVDA of Alberta, said as he thanked everyone for their generosity.
Isaac, a 12-year-old baseball fan who bravely battled Wilms’ tumour, and Liam, a 12-year-old aspiring chef who courageously faced a brain tumour, both had their wishes to visit their favourite theme park granted, providing their families with much-needed joy and the chance to create cherished memories after their challenging journeys.
A Year-Round Commitment to Making a Difference
The RVDA of Alberta is deeply passionate about supporting families and making a positive impact in our community. Our partnership with Make-A-Wish Canada is more than just a one-time sponsorship; it’s a year-round initiative that we hold close to our hearts. We believe in the power of wishes to bring hope and joy to children facing critical illnesses, and we’re committed to making those wishes come true.
As we celebrate the success of this year’s golf tournament and the incredible difference we’ve made together, we look forward to granting even more wishes in the future.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, participated, and made this possible, your generosity is transforming lives, one wish at a time.
